The way I see my generation is Lost. I think that we’ve lost our way. Growing up we would play street hockey with kids down the block, we would play board games with our families, and our curfew was when the street lights turned on. Now our generation is putting value to the wrong things. We are now a generation that only cares about social media and technology. All about “the next big thing. We are constantly on the move, never stopping to pay attention to the things that really matter, letting the things of true value fade away.
Reflection:
I found this project to be a little more challenging than I first thought. I realized what I thought and ended up saying about my generation was sad and depressing. What is even more depressing is the fact that it's true. Actually capturing what I felt in photos was even harder. I chose the pictures I did for specific reasons. I started off with picture of Long Beach because that is where I grew up, the nature pictures remind me of life being simple, unlike how it is today. I also chose to take pictures of a playground because honestly nothing is more innocent and pure. It was a place of pure bliss for me as a kid. Now they are deserted. I also took pictures of streets and how they also are deserted now. No kids running up and down the block playing cops and robbers, or riding their bikes, or like I said, playing street hockey with each other. That was something I cherished as a kid and now that is gone. I brought up the issue of social media and technology because that is what the world is about now. It was hard to capture that image because no one stays still long enough to capture it, again, we are constantly moving. Which is why the freeway is my favorite pictures because it is so accurate of the world we live in and the point I'm trying to get across. I then put pictures of my family in to show what truly matters and how people don't believe that anymore. This project forced me to take a hard look around me and to me what I saw was truly depressing.

My presentation is on Sara Riches. An Australian housewife, mother, and painter. It was really interesting getting to research more about her and how she goes about making her different pieces. I liked this project a lot because it gave me a real glimpse of being a teacher and gave me the chance to explore different types of artwork and artists around the world. Her work definitely inspires me. Making the booklet was a challenge, trying to decide what to put in and what would be helpful was hard but it ended up coming together really well in the end. I love word searches and I always found them a fun assignment when I was in school. I decided to make a word search of different things that have to do with Sara and her art. Overall, I tried to make my project fun, entertaining, and relatable.

Sktchy was an app that I found while searching the app store on my iPad. It is the instagram of art. It is the modern day self-portrait portfolio. I think this app is really useful and inspiring, you find other people's self-portraits and do your own rendition of them. It stretches you as an artist and helps you develop your skills as an artist. It is a useful app for anyone, any age. You can find hundreds of images and profiles and create your own. I think this would be a very useful app for teaching and would benefit those who learn how to use it and make a profile themselves.
I really enjoyed this project. It was fun being able to chose what we how we wanted to create our project and how we wanted to create it. I want to be a ceramics teacher so I obviously was excited to use clay for our stop motion. It was a new experience for me creating a stop motion video so it was a fun process to learn. I am happy with our outcome, its a fun quirky little video!
This was a really exciting project for me. I got to chose something that I was interested in and get to share how to make it with others. I think that how to videos are a great way to teach students. I know that I have googled multiple how to's and actually learned how to do what I wanted to, like how to french braid and how to tie a tie! In today's society kids are all about the internet and youtube videos so this is the perfect way to reach out and teach our lessons.
